The difference between\nthe two terms is on how the data is collected and used. However, it tends to give you an\nin-depth understanding of your objectives and your target audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is Secondary Data?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike primary data, the information is not collected by the researcher\nhimself, but other researchers or available sources, such as marketing research\nfirms, government agencies, trade associations, or even the internet. As it is\nalready available, thus, it\u2019s less time-consuming and costly. However,\nsometimes it can be quite costly, especially when you get or buy it from market\nresearch firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Collect Primary Data and Secondary Data<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When conducting research, you need to consider what type of data to use,\neither primary or secondary data, and determine whether it is quantitative or\nqualitative. If you decide on collecting it directly (primary data), there are\nsome methods you can use, including in-depth interviews, surveys, focus groups,\nsocial media monitoring. These are the very common methods used to collect\nprimary data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, if you use secondary data, you can gather information from\npublic sources, such as government statistics, industry associations, trade\npublications, company websites, market research reports, and other public\nsources. Whether conducting primary research or\nusing secondary data, it depends on many factors, including budget, the skills\nof researchers, available research, and time.
