What Are MOP and SRP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the retail industry, especially in India, there are\nfamiliar terms called MOP and SRP. MOP is the acronym of Market Operating Price<\/strong>, a term used as a guideline for a retailer\non deciding the lowest retail price of a brand\u2019s products in the market.\nMeanwhile, SRP stands for Suggested\nRetail Price<\/strong>, standardized prices of products recommended by the brand\nitself as a guideline for retailers from different locations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MOP and SRP both are decided by the brand\/company in a\nconsideration that the price will impact the brand itself. Often times, if\nproducts have a lower price, they will bring a positive impact on the brand\nimage, especially if the brand can maintain high quality at the same time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If brands set their retail selling prices based on MOP\nand SRP, it directly suggests retailers follow it through. In other words, they\nshould not sell below a particular set price. Setting MOP and SRP also aims at\nkeeping the hygiene of playing field for all channel players across the\nindustry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who\nDecides MOP and SRP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is another term in the retail price guideline,\nMRP\u2014Maximum Retail Price. It\u2019s the maximum price of a certain product that\nalready includes taxes. Unlike MOP and SRP which are set by the brand itself,\nMRP is set by Government Regulations to prevent overpriced products and market\nstability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As MOP and SRP are decided by the brand, they\nregularly conduct assessments which are called Price Check, MOP Audits, and SRP\nAudits. Based on these assessments then a brand decides on their MOP and\nSRP.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
